Lexie Elliot

Head of Advisory Board

What is your job title at Pitt? Coordinator of Fraternity and Sorority Life

Why did you become a PDM advisor? PDM is an AWESOME student organization and it is great to see so many students do good for others. Nothing brings me more joy than to see college students rally around a great cause, and enact serious change for the common good. The passion the fraternity and sorority community has for PDM is invigorating. One of my favorite lines is “many hands make light work” which is definitely shown through the hard work and collaboration done by PDM.

What inspires you about PDM? The children and family who are fighting for their lives and I want those children and those families to know that NO ONE FIGHTS ALONE. It is an honor to contribute and support their successful student ran philanthropy. I am truly a part of something greater than myself.

Dianne Mares

Executive Secretary Advisor

What is your job at Pitt? SORC Administrative Assistant

Why did you become a PDM advisor? I became a PDM advisor to be able to contribute to one of the largest student organizations at Pitt. This organization embodies a strong connection to a cause that is shared by all members involved. I felt that, with an extensive dancer background, I could
contribute to an organization by merging my interest with students’ enthusiasm and produce something that exemplifies Pitt pride.

What inspires you about PDM? PDM’s passion and dedication is something that radiate to each participant. I take this feeling and apply it to my job, my family and my community, reaching above and beyond what is required of me. Involvement in PDM is a positive experience that is not only exciting but provides me an opportunity for self-development.

Victoria Bianco

What is your job at Pitt? Assistant Director, Annual Programs

Why did you become a PDM advisor? I was involved with PDM board as an undergraduate student and never stopped being passionate about the mission. PDM changed my life for the better, and I will always be grateful for my experience. Now as a Pitt staff member, I am excited to give back to PDM in a new way.

What inspires you about PDM? I am inspired by the passion and commitment of the PDM students. They are dedicated to improving the program, ultimately to create a better experience for the kids at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. PDM students are making an incredible difference in the Pittsburgh community and giving their peers an opportunity to be a part of something much greater than themselves.

Why did you become a PDM advisor? First off, I love working with students who are dedicated to working together for a common goal! And the goal is such a great cause? That’s icing on the cake!!

What inspires you about PDM? The fact that there is no ceiling. We can never do enough, or help out too much. The Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh helps so many in need, that we as a community can even add to a fraction of what they do should push us all to do more!

Hunter Stewart

What is your job at Pitt? Resident Director

Why did you become a PDM advisor? I became a PDM advisor because of my long history in undergraduate as part of a Dance Marathon organization, and because I wanted to give back to the community and the kids here in Pittsburgh. Additionally, I am always looking for ways to get involved in supporting student leadership on our campus, and helping students navigate event planning, fundraising, and community involvement positions them to be the best people they can be!

What inspires you about PDM? Being part of something so much bigger than myself! It is incredibly powerful to see hundreds of students come together in commitment to “standing for those who can’t” and raising money for the kids at Children’s Hospital. PDM reminds me that as negative as things might seem nowadays, these students are truly changing the world with their love and passion.

Katy Tufts

Why did you become a PDM advisor? I became a PDM advisor to strengthen my advising skills and contribute to a great cause on Pitt’s campus.

What inspires you about PDM? The student leaders’ dedication to the organization and how they truly wish to make an impact both on campus and throughout the Children’s Miracle Network.

Abby Wasserman

What is your job at Pitt? Program Coordinator, Fraternity and Sorority Life

Why did you become a PDM advisor? I became an advisor because it is within my job description, but I was happy to be able to work with PDM because I was involved with Dance Marathon as an undergraduate and really enjoyed my experience. It is great to be able to work with a student organization that impacts so many students on campus and so many in the Pittsburgh area.

What inspires you about PDM? I find PDM inspiring because of how passionate so many students feel about working with PDM and raising money for this important cause. It’s awesome to see how much hard work and care students put into this organization all year long and how invested they are in raising money for Children’s Miracle Network. It’s great how motivated students are to set and meet high goals in the name of helping others.

Why did you become a PDM advisor? I heard about PDM through my coworker Dianne Mares. I talked with Lexie Elliott and also looked into what all PDM does and accomplishes. Seeing how much PDM is able to help fundraise for the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital was really inspiring and something I wanted to help support.

What inspires you about PDM? What inspires me about PDM is the drive, collaboration, and initiative that each member has when it comes to raising money to help support others. Money raised can be life changing for others and seeing everyone come together to help this cause is inspiring.

Emily Roan

What is your job at Pitt? Coordinator of Campus Fitness

Why did you become a PDM advisor? I became a PDM advisor to provide support to the hardworking college students that put this event together each year, in whatever way that I possibly can. Also if you have ever participated in Dance Marathons in high school or college it is such a powerful, exciting, rewarding event to witness and I wanted to experience and participate in the miracles at work for the behind the scenes effort.

What inspires you about PDM? Through my job at Pitt and all the other ways that I am connected to the university, I am always surprised to see what college students are capable of when they are driven through their passions and commitments to the community at large. PDM is a perfect example of college students doing whatever it takes for them to reach their personal goals through the organization to then turn around and help the children and families in need. Hail to Kids!
